Dear Valued Customer,

 

 
We regret to inform you that M/S Hyundai Drive 007W52/007E04 is experiencing delay due to an incident while passing the Suez Canal en route to Europe.
The ballast tank has been damaged, which will require dry docking and repair.
Consequently this vessel will only call European ports for discharge and will not load any export cargoes during her port stays.

 

 

The expected arrivals at European ports are as below:
LEH Tue 02-Feb-16
SOU Wed 03-Feb-16
HAM Fri 05-Feb-16
RTM Mon 08-Feb-16

 

 
After her repair the vessel will phase again into G6 schedule.

An updated infographic (see below) from California-based BCO consultants 10xoceansolutions shows the Ocean 3 alliance as the potential big winners if all the mooted shipping line mergers proceed. Cosco could join China Shipping at Ocean 3, along with founding partners UASC and CMA CGM, the latter likely taking new acquisition APL from the G6 too, giving ‘Ocean 5’

a 26% market share among global alliances, up from its current 23% stake.

 

 

APL’s place in G6 could be replaced by Hamburg Sud, 10xoceansolutions suggests.

 

 

The big loser is the Asian alliance of CKYHE. With Cosco departing, the grouping of K Line, Yang Ming, Hanjin and Evergreen would have a 16% share among global alliances, down from its current 21%.

 

 

10xoceansolutions has yet to factor in possible changes brought about by a rumoured merger between South Korean pair Hanjin and Hyundai Merchant Marine; the pair belong to competing alliances.

 

 

Chas Deller, ceo and chairman of 10xoceansolutions, told Splash earlier this week shippers were in for a very tricky period deciding where to place their contracts for the transpacific this season.

 

 

“With the inevitable changes to alliance structures brought about by the CMA CGM purchase of APL/NOL and the China merger of CSCL and Cosco the new year has started with a new twist for shippers, especially on the major east-west trades,” Deller said.

 

 

“With the transpacific contract season approaching how does a BCO choose who to use this season when the new alliance structure is so up in the air?” Deller mused.

Please be informed about the implementation of a pick-up / drop-off charge for the pick-up / drop-off of an empty container at a depot at Hamburg or Bremerhaven in case the load/discharge port for that shipment is not the same. (Example: Pick-up at Hamburg – load port: Bremerhaven)

 
This charge is implemented in view of the increasing demand of empty container positioning. It shall also contribute to safeguard the availability of empty equipment for our customers in future.

 
Effective date will be: 1st March 2016 (Booking date)
Quantum will be: EUR 50,00 per Standard Container
EUR 75,00 per Special Equipment Container

 
The prevailing cost structure at Inland depots is not affected by this charge and remains unchanged.

NY/NJ Port Operations – Labor Walk-Out

Please be advise that ILA work has stopped at all New York terminals as of 10am this morning.
The exact reason has not been explained yet.

Received below communication from Global Terminal / Bayonne:

At 10:00 this morning the ILA walked off the job at all the terminals in the Port of NY/NJ.
The matter has been referred to the NYSA, and counsel.
We are not aware of the reason for the work stoppage, nor do we know how long it will last.
As information becomes available, we will update.
