Temporary ban on Calcium Hypochlorite
Following a serious incident with explosion and fire on board a Maersk Line operated vessel it has been decided with immediate effect to suspend acceptance and carriage of Calcium Hypochlorite.

Investigations are still ongoing. Until further notice, no Calcium Hypochlorite will be accepted – neither in DRY nor in REEFER containers.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO ANOTHER SERIOUS INCIDENT LAST NIGHT INVOLVING CALCIUM HYPOCHLORITE ALL CONTAINERS EN ROUTE WITH THIS COMMODITY WILL IMMEDIATELY BE STOPPED.
Containers in ports of loading and in transhipment ports will be stopped at present location, containers on board vessels will be discharged in the next port and remain there until further. The shippers will be contacted and informed accordingly. Updated information on affected customers and containers will be uploaded on the VIC site as soon as possible.
Please take the necessary steps to ensure that no Calcium Hypochlorite containers are cross-stuffed into reefer containers until further information is received.
