Dear Customer,

We would like to update you regarding the new SOLAS regulation about the containers’ verified gross mass (VGM) with effective date July 1, 2016.
To provide you with the latest news and most important facts about the new regulation, we have designed a new VGM webpage. To make your VGM submission safe, easy and fast we are implementing the following IT solutions:

We will show our local VGM cut-off dates on:
 Booking Confirmation during May 2016
Web Schedule as of June 2016

Our e-channels will be ready for receiving and processing the VGM early in June. This will allow you to submit the VGM for cargo in transit which is shipped before the go live:
Hapag-Lloyd Online Business (VGM input for registered customers)
 Bilateral EDI (direct EDI connection between customer and Hapag-Lloyd)
 Portals (e.g. INTTRA, GT Nexus, CargoSmart, DAKOSY)

The container tare weight required for Method 2, which you can find on the containers door, can also be looked up in Hapag-Lloyd Online Business or can be requested on demand via our getInfo email solution:
 Email: send an email to getinfo@hlag.com with the subject:
“C: HLXU1234567”, get the container specifications in return like the tare weight, maximum gross weight and maximum payload
 Website: go on www.hapag-lloyd.com, insert the container number in the “Trace Container” section and be directed to the container specification

Finally, we invite you to look into our VGM Info-Graphic (PDF) where we summarize the basics on how to obtain and submit the VGM to Hapag-Lloyd.
For further information please contact your local Hapag-Lloyd office.
Kind Regards,
Hapag-Lloyd AG
