Special Equipment Additional Charge – Precarriage or Oncarriage
Dear Valued Customer,
Effective September 1, 2014, unless otherwise specified, CMA CGM will implement a special equipment additional (Precarriage or Oncarriage) which shall apply to all shipments moving to or from inland points within the U.S. via single or combined transport modes by truck (motor),including but not limited to: motor, motor-rail, or moves between ramp and pier requiring truck drayage.
Special equipment additional (Precarriage or Oncarriage) shall apply, per unit, for cargo moves described under sections A) or B) below, whether U.S. inland rate is included in base ocean rate or if inland rate is applied under inland construction basis.
Special equipment additional charge:
USD 225 per 20’ container
USD 300 per 40’ or 45’ container
A) Whenever weight of container cargo Gross weight (defined as cargo weight including packaging but excluding container, chassis and traction unit) EXCEEDS weights levels listed herein.
20′ Dry 17.3 Metric Tons or 38,200 Lbs
20′ Reefer 15.9 Metric Tons or 35,053 Lbs
40′ and 45’dry 19.9 Metric Tons or 43,900 Lbs
40′ Reefer Standard 17.8 Metric Tons or 39,242 Lbs
40′ Reefer High Cube 17.6 Metric Tons or 38,801 Lbs
B) If the stowage of the cargo in the container requires the Carrier to provide a special chassis for any reason other Section A above, special equipment additional charge shall apply.
For the purpose of this rule, special equipment additional (Precarriage or Oncarriage) charge shall cover provision of special chassis in conjunction with cost associated for road overweight permit as required within U.S. inland point movement.
Special chassis equipment is not always available from all origins and is subject to availability at time of shipment. Carrier is not responsible to have triaxle/super hassis available at origin or destination for either marine terminal or ramp CY moves.
Should actual weights declared to Carrier prove inaccurate, Charge will apply if weight exceeds parameters stated in section A) above. All fines, penalties and or other associated costs are for the account of the cargo.
