Demerit point system for Malaysian ports

4 April, 2016

Please be informed that the Royal Malaysian Customs Department has recently advised that with immediate effect, they will implement a demerit point system under Customs Act 1967. Among other offences, one of which concerns manifest amendment, any amendment made after submission to the authorities will be severely penalized and can lead to the suspension of UASAC Malaysia’s shipping license.
In this regards, we wish to inform you that any amendment of manifest concerning incoming cargo into Malaysia will need to be communicated to UASAC Malaysia five working days prior vessel arrival. This will ensure that the corrections in the manifest are complete prior submission to the customs authorities.
Failing which, any manifest amendment received less than five working days prior vessel arrival will strictly not be carried out.
Yours sincerely,
Eric B. Williams
